Well with Microsoft numbers out for this quarter, it is no surprise that Bing (Microsofts' search engine) is loosing the company fistfull after fistfull of money, with no sign of stopping. Even with Yahoo teaming up this year, it has done little to over through Googles place at the top of the search engine list. So why is Microsoft still pooring money into this sinking ship?
To answer that we have to look at what microsft is trying to do to stay relevant and there vision of the future. In the mobile phone area , they have windows 7 , now with the mango update so its more like 7.5. I'm sure you all guessed it the browser the phone uses is preset to use Bing. The phone also uses a UI called MetroUI, An interface that is being incorporated into Windows 8.
In the PC and tablet Area Microsoft is going to be releaasing next year Windows 8; which will work on both PC's and Tablet alike. As part of the OS they have incorporated rather heavily a dependance on Bing. So Microsoft vision of the future is to have a line of devices all working on the same OS, using the same user interface, and being powed by Bing as the search engine of choice. It is for this reason that month after month, day after day they continue to throw money away. Only time will tell if Microsoft will continue to stay relevant in the world of technology today and if their vision of the future of technology is actually going to work in the market.
